The problem

The battens and membrane beneath the affected area had deteriorated. Rotten battens needed to be removed.

Work completed

A localised repair to a Thundersley roof, renewing deteriorated membrane and battens while reinstating the existing tiles and hip tiles. The tiles and hip tiles were removed from the affected section to open the repair area, rotten battens were removed back to the nearest sound rafters, and replacement breathable membrane and battens were fitted. Existing roof tiles were reinstated and the hip tiles re-bedded in weather-resistant mortar. The affected section was reinstated with renewed underlying layers and existing tiles returned to place — a localised repair, not a full-roof replacement.
